Step Up Your Siding with This Year’s Trends

The beginning of a new year allows us to restart. We can create new habits or adopt a more positive mindset. We can also plan to refresh our home’s exterior.

“There will be an emphasis this year on low-maintenance materials like fiber cement and vinyl that are durable and require minimal upkeep,” Scott said.

Eco-friendliness is also at the top of homeowners’ minds. Siding materials that are less harmful to the environment, like recycled vinyl or reclaimed wood, are becoming more popular.

In addition, insulated siding that increases a home’s energy efficiency is on trend. It not only reduces one’s energy bill, but it also protects a home against sudden temperature changes.

Color

In exchange for more subtle and traditional colors like white or light gray siding, homeowners are going bold and darker in 2025.

“Darker colors make a statement of drama but also give homes a more sophisticated and modern look,” said Scott. “When items like the door, shutters, and trim are lighter, they pop in contrast.”

Trendy colors include charcoal gray, navy blue, forest green, and earthy browns, common in contemporary and urban homes.

Style

Several siding styles will be popular this coming year. The first is vertical siding.

“While horizontal siding is often standard, vertical panels are becoming more commonplace,” Scott said. “It helps to visually elongate a home. It is also practical in states like Wisconsin, with snow in winter and rain in spring and summer. The vertical panels allow water to flow downward more effortlessly.”

For a more textured look, shiplap siding is a beneficial choice. The overlapping panels that create a tight seal add dimension and give the home a cozy and rustic feel, fitting well in a traditional or modern home.

“Finally, in 2025, we’ll see mixing of textures and colors on siding,” said Scott. Examples include black vertical siding with horizontal wood siding or brick with fiber cement or metal panels. This allows the homeowner to express his or her unique style while creating a visually interesting exterior.

The only complaint I have is when I have J&B do my roof in another 30 years or so, is Dave their sales man (a great guy) would not guaranty I could get the same great crew I had this time. They did a fantastic job. Much better than the last roofing company did. A nice bunch of guys. Did a very nice job cleaning up. I'd give them 10 stars but 5 is the limit. If you need a roof done this is the company you want to do it. One more point I need to make. The guys that did the chimney flashing are artists. I went up on the roof when they were done and was very pleased with not only the roofing job but the sculptured sheet metal work. It's kind of a shame it's on the roof and not hanging on the family room wall :). You get the point. Hire em. You'll like em.

We had work done by the J&B team at a commercial property and were very pleased with the whole process. Their estimator met us onsite and communicated with us every step of the way. They went over the scope in detail and the work performed exceeded what we were expecting. They found some additional concerns during the installation that were quickly addressed and communicated to us and to our surprise, there was not an additional charge. Our tenants reached out to share how respectful the employees were during the installation and how clean everything was left afterwards. As the project was wrapped up, we were walked through the completion paperwork and provided the warranty information.
